How do you Post Avatar?

Postby ulyferal on Fri Dec 29, 2006 1:46 am

When I registered I didn't see a question for entering my avatar. So how do you get one on now or did you use a different code for it? thanks

Also I didn't want my user name to be 'ulyferal818' just 'ulyferal' but I ran into a strange problem or my computer illit problems are showing. When I typed in my address it gave two forms of it then refused to let me fix it. Are you able to fix or do I need to register?

This site is going to take some getting used to but it is much cleaner and real nice.

I can change your username if you like. You'll just have to remember that it's been changed!

To add an avatar:

You need to upload the avatar somewhere that allows hotlinking.

Go to 'Profile'. (It's up in the group of links at the top of the forum under the name.)

Scroll to the bottom of the page.

Then you put the address to the picture in the blank where it asks for 'offsite avatar', click 'submit' and you should be good to go. :)

Ow... The avatar limits are 100x100 pixel 6kb only, and can only link to a external site? I want to use my SK.us forum avatar... And I have no way to update a smaller image on the internet... (I lost my photobucket password and the e-mail I did the account... XD)

I don't really want to make it much larger than 100x100.

I can (and will) adjust the KB size a little.

Why not just sign up for a new photobucket account or use a different service?

THIS is a good idea. And you could probably do that.

I upped the KB size for everyone.

For some freaky reason the avatars aren't staying within their size limitations. I'll have to look up something to see why.

That's cool. Speaking just for myself, the size of MY ava is just fine.

Hmmm, wonder why THAT is? Anyway, good luck with that, sys.

Stealing bandwidth from someone.

Like, for example, you were on a forum and decided to use a picture from a different site as an avatar or sig.

Such as:

http://www.kishikat.com/whatever.pic

If it begins with something you -don't- own, then you need to ask permission to link to it/use it.

In this case, you'd have been stealing bandwidth from "kishikat.com".

There are many good reasons to not do that, since you have no control over what the picture -is-. I could change 'whatever.pic' to be anything. Even a picture of something totally unflattering.
